I hadn’t felt accomplished like this for a long time since I passed the National Outstanding Student exam in high school in Cambodia. I GOT ACCEPTED INTO ADA DEVELOPERS ACADEMY!!! If you’re not familiar with it, Ada Developers Academy is a reputable bootcamp in Seattle area that offers free education to women aspiring to be a software engineer. The acceptance rate is only 8-10% (as competitive as MIT) among 500 – 600 applicants all over the United States. What made me even more excited is the fact that I got in on my FIRST attempt, while many people applied multiple times before getting in. The interviewer even told me he interviewed some people up to 4 times before he admitted them. I don’t want to sound boastful here but acknowledging this fact and writing it out made me feel live and ecstatic, and I think I deserve to feel these feelings.
Ada is different from other bootcamps in that it offers paid internships right after graduations, and its network is excellent, being sponsored by big fortune 500 companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, Expedia..etc…Plus, after researching and talking to Adies (Ada alumni), I have no doubt about its quality. I’m also impressed by this organization’s mission in promoting women in tech since as a woman in tech, this is the kind of community I feel more than happy to join.
Classes will begin in Feb 2019, and I can’t wait for the time to come. I can’t wait to be reborn. 🙂
